Trio for flute, Bb clarinet, and cello

      Score

Notes:

Trio, written as a student under the tutelage of Peter Westergaard, is a sensitive chamber work that explores different textures and instrumental roles in a rigorous atonal medium. The piece explores the use of contrapuntal techniques in free atonality, creating a subtle sense of anachronism while simultaneously contributing to a strongly structured and hauntingly beautiful musical foreground. Trio ends with a chorale that imitatively explores each possible instrumental ordering and combination, bringing the piece to an end.
